In that process I used that Deleter backup file, and because iCloud wouldn't allow me to set up a new calendar callled Calendar I had to change it, choosing My Calendar. It was then that I found that I couldn't correct the entries in iCloud and you gave me the answer to that in your earlier posting. icbu backup file with these 5,000 entries. There were over 10,000 entires which reduced to some 5,000 once the duplicates were removed.
Just for the record I thought I'd set out what I'd done.īefore you came to my assistance I had cancelled my Mac syncing to iCloud and used iCal Dupe Deleter to remove all the duplicates from my Mac calendar which was called Calendar.
If you can explain how to correct this or point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful. I realise that this is really an iOS problem and might be outside your area of expertise, and also that perhaps I should have posted this problem on one of the other Discussions. I can't recall seeing any calendars showing under On My iPad before I started to try and correct this, and I'm now reluctant to try and restore the link between the iPad and iCloud in case it duplicates the entries in iCloud. There was no option to delete this so I tried adding a new calendar and deleting the Calendar one but all the entries now appear under the new calendar! I did this but then found that there were still calendars appearing on the iPad and that these were for a calendar called Calendar, the old name of my calendars, shown as On My iPad. I unchecked the box and thought I'd nothing more to do but set the iCloud setting off on the iPad and choose the option to delete the calendars. I think this is due to the Sync iCal Calendars box in iTunes Info for the iPad being checked - this box wasn't checked for the iPhone. Having got everything as I like it, with the calendars syncing correctly between iCloud, my iMac and my iPhone I've found that duplicate entries are again appearing on my iPad. As my main calendar had been called Calendar I tried changing the Untitled 1 to that, both on iCloud and the iMac, but it wouldn't allow any change to the Untitled 1 name.Ĭan anyone suggest why this is happening and how I can restore my calendar backup to the iMac and iCloud. The same Untitled 1 Calendar was showing on the iMac and although it went through the process of importing the backup to the iMac the information only showed there for a very short time before disappearing - I did check that Calendars were still not showing as connected to iCloud in the iMac preferences. I thought I had nothing else to do but restore the backup without the duplicates to the iMac and then connect the Calendars there to iCloud. As it wouldn't allow me to delete them all I added a new, blank, calendar there called Untitled 1 and deleted the rest. I then deleted all the calendars in iCloud. I had back ups of my iMac calendars and I tried to correct this problem by first of all removing the connection between iCloud and Calendars in the iMac, choosing to delete all the calendars on the iMac. I used iCal Dupe Deleter to remove the duplicates on my iMac but they were still there in iCloud. I found that my calendar items were dulpilcated on my iMac and iCloud.
